Born in Lausanne and holding Swiss, French and Canadian citizenship, Sophie Lavaud settled in Geneva over fifteen years ago. Having worked twelve years principally in the hotel industry and directed the sales and marketing department of hotel Richemond, she continued her career in the luxury and cosmetics industry at Clarins, before running her own event management company called Jetfin. Today Sophie devotes most of her time to Himalayan mountaineering but remain a speaker and a consultant in external affairs for the coaching institute futura21 when she is in Geneva.

Norlha’s ambassador Sophie will attempt to conquer her sixth eight-thousander this summer. This time her goal is to reach the summit of Broad Peak (8,047 m), on the border of Pakistan and China. This spring, she attempted to climb Kangchenjunga (8,586 m), in Nepal. Unfortunately, unfavorable conditions forced her to turn back at 8,200m.

In realizing her dream, Sophie hopes to help women in Nepal achieve theirs. She aims to support Norlha’s new “Mahila” project for women impacted by migration. Read more
